Below is a list of all Restricted Scholarships administered by CGS, sorted alphabetically by name of fund. Corresponding eligibility and/or preference criteria are also included. Please remember that students cannot apply directly to CGS for these scholarships. Rather, their names must be forwarded to CGS by the appropriate Harvard Financial Aid Office.

John Austin AMORY Class of 1907 Scholarship Fund
Restricted to grandsons by the male line of John Austin Amory.
John W. APPEL Loan Fund
Restricted to descendants of John W. Appel.
AYALA Scholarship Fund
Restrictions, in order of preference:
1. Citizens of the Philippines;
2. Asian nationals;
3. American students of Filipino descent;
4. Students of Filipino or Asian history, languages, or other related subjects.
BAXENDALE Scholarship
Restrictions, in order of preference:
1. Descendants of Alan Bedford Hudson;
2. Students with the name Baxendale or Hudson;
3. Students from Brockton or Bourne, Massachusetts.
George U. BAYLIES Bequest
Restricted to students from Westchester County, New York.
Judson BEMIS Financial Aid Fund
Restricted to minority students (particularly African-American) at the Graduate School of Education, the Divinity School, and the Medical School who are graduates of the following institutions, in order of preference:
1. Fisk University;
2. Hampton University;
3. Any other accredited predominantly African-American college.
Harold A. BERRY Scholarship Fund
Restricted to male residents of Rhode Island.
BRIGHT Legacy
Restricted to descendants of Henry Bright, Jr. and Anne Goldstone of Watertown, Massachusetts, who bear the surname Bright.
Daniel A. BUCKLEY Bequest
Restricted to graduates of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School or other public non-sectarian schools in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Henry Caspar BURTON, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Restricted to members of the Society of St. John the Evangelist or the Fly Club.
CABOT Corporation Scholarship Fund
Preference given to sons of employees of Godfrey L. Cabot, Inc., or its subsidiary and associated companies.
F.L. CADY Scholarship Fund
Restricted to graduates of Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
F.M. CADY Scholarship Fund
Restricted to male graduates of Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
Madame Marguerite CARRIERE Fellowship
Alternating year to year, the award is made to a Harvard graduate student for study in France or to a French graduate student attending Harvard.
George Chase CHRISTIAN Memorial Scholarship
Restricted to residents of Minnesota, with preference to graduate students.
Mark D. CORY Scholarship
Restricted to graduates of Gadsden High School in Gadsden, Alabama.
Richard N. CROSS Fund
Restricted to students from Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
Myer DANA and Etta Dana Scholarship Fund
Restricted to students at the Law School, Medical School, and Harvard College.
Charles DOWNER Scholarship Fund
Restrictions, in order of preference:
1. Students who bear the surname Downer and who are descendants of Joseph or Robert Downer of Wiltshire, England;
2. Other students bearing the surname Downer;
3. Descendants of members of the Harvard Class of 1889;
4. Residents of the State of Vermont;
5. Descendants of graduates of Harvard College.
Ray EDER Memorial Fund
Restricted to students at Harvard Law School and Harvard College.
Dwight D. EISENHOWER Scholarship Fund
Preference given to African-American students.
Calvin and Lucy ELLIS Aid
Restricted to descendants of David Ellis and Beulah Newell of Dedham, Massachusetts, or John Ellis and Hannah Ellis of Walpole, Massachusetts.
Horace Cecil FISHER Scholarship Fund
Restricted to English students.
FISKE Scholarship Fund
Preference given to graduates of Boston Latin School in Boston, Massachusetts.
Thomas Hooker FLINT 1958 Memorial Scholarship
Restricted to male graduates of Belmont Hill School at Harvard Medical School and Harvard College.
Addison H. FLOURNOY Bequest
Restricted to African-American students.
Joseph E. and Octavia GOODBAR Scholarship
Preference given to descendants of Joseph and Octavia Goodbar at Harvard College.
Claire Morton Prince HANKS Student Fund
Restricted to students specializing in the natural sciences, with preferences for students of engineering, astronomy, mathmatics, and physics.
Gustav L. HARRIS Scholarship
Restricted to residents of the St. Louis, Missouri, area.
HARVARD CLUB OF DELAWARE Scholarship Fund
Restricted to residents of Delaware nominated by the Harvard Club of Delaware.
HARVARD CLUB OF MAINE Scholarship Fund
Restricted to residents of Maine, with preference given to undergraduate students at Harvard College.
HARVARD CLUB OF MUNICH Scholarship Fund
Restricted to graduate students who are citizens of Germany.
HARVARD UNIVERSITY ASSOCIATES IN CANADA Scholarship Fund
Restricted to citizens of Canada.
Caroline Cady HEWEY Fund
Restricted to students who propose to engage in the Diplomatic Service of the United States.
William JONES 1900 Fund
Restricted to students of anthropology or for the benefit of any American Indian student at Harvard.
Henry L.F. KREGER Memorial Scholarship
Restricted to students from the Cleveland, Ohio, area at the Law School or Harvard College.
Arthur LEHMAN Fund
Restricted to students of exceptional merit and promise in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School of Design, and the Medical School.
Horace De Y. LENTZ Scholarship
Restricted to residents of Carbon County, Pennsylvania.
Levina Hoar, For LINCOLN Scholarship
Restricted to residents of Lincoln, Massachusetts.
Eugenio LOPEZ Scholarship Fund
Restrictions, in order of preference:
1. Citizens of the Philippines;
2. Asian nationals;
3. American students of Filipino descent;
4. Students of Filipino or Asian history, languages, or other related subjects.
Arthur T. LYMAN and Henry S. GREW Memorial Scholarships
Restricted to students at the Schools of Public Health, Medicine, and Dental Medicine with the following preferences (in order):
1. Students from China;
2. Students from elsewhere in the Far East.
Albert J. LYNCH Scholarship
Restricted to descendants of Governor Thomas Dudley.
Thorvald OTTERSTROM Memorial Fund
Restricted to graduate students in the Department of Music.
Alwin M. PAPPENHEIMER '99 Fund
Restricted to graduate students in the Department of Music or the Division of Medical Sciences (the award alternates between the two from year to year).
E.P. PARKER Scholarship Fund
Preference given to undergraduates at Harvard College.
JOHN PARKER Bequest
Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Merit Scholarships for students in the natural sciences.
Frederick E. PARLIN Fund
Preference given to natives of Malden or Everett, Massachusetts.
William PENNOYER Bequest
Restricted to descendants of Robert Pennoyer and residents of New Haven, Connecticut.
Aristides Evangelus PHOUTRIDES Memorial
Restricted to students of Greek birth or of Greek parentage.
PRINCETON Fellowship
Restricted to graduates of Princeton University in their first year as graduate students at Harvard.
Leon W. REDPATH Scholarship
Restrictions, in order of preference:
1. Residents of Stark and Tuscarawas Counties, Ohio;
2. Residents of Ohio.
Franklin REYNOLDS Fund
Restricted to natives of Marblehead, Massachusetts.
Allen D. and Marion L. RUBIN Scholarship Fund
Restricted to students of the Jewish faith.
James A. RUMRILL Scholarships
Undergraduate nominees must have graduated from secondary schools in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, or Kentucky. Graduate students must have been awarded an undergraduate degree from an institution in any of the above-mentioned states.
Peter Brooks SALTONSTALL '43 Memorial
Restricted to students from Hawaii, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, the East Indies, Taiwan, Sumatra, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Ernest Frederick SLATER Scholarship
Restrictions, in order of preference:
1. Descendants by birth or adoption of Edward F. Slater;
2. Residents of the City of Orangeburg, South Carolina;
3. Residents of South Carolina.
Note: This scholarship is not open to students in their first year at Harvard.
CHARLES H. SMITH Bequest
Restrictions, in order of preference:
1. Graduates of public high schools in Providence, Rhode Island;
2. Graduates of other (non-public) secondary schools in Providence, Rhode Island.
3. Residents of Rhode Island.
JAMES N. SNITZLER Scholarship Fund
For under-represented minority students, in any school of the university, showing financial need.
JOSEPH M. SMITH Memorial Scholarship Fund
Restricted to undergraduate students with demonstrated interest in volunteer or community service, with the following preferences:
1. Residents of Allston and Brighton, Massachusetts for the last 5 years;
2. Residents of other Boston, Massachusetts neighborhoods for the last 5 years.
Arthur Daniel STILLMAN Endowed Beneficiary Aid Fund
Preference given to (in order):
1. Students from Southeast Asia;
2. Students concentrating in academic areas related to Southeast Asian studies.
STOLPER Scholarship Fund
Restricted to students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences or the Law School studying the history, economy, law, or literature of the German-speaking peoples (the award alternates between the two schools from year to year).
William STOUGHTON Bequest
Restrictions, in order of preference:
1. Residents of Dorchester or Mattapan, Massachusetts;
2. Residents of Milton, Massachusetts;
3. Native American students.
Louis and Ida TATELMAN Award Fund
Restricted to students who have shown exceptional personal courage in surmounting physical, social, or economic difficulties, or by helping others (an essay from the nominee is required).
ALEXANDER WHEELOCK THAYER Bequest
Restricted to male students bearing the surname Thayer.
JOHN E. THAYER Scholarships
Restricted to the most meritorious scholar in each of Harvard's graduate and professional schools who is deemed by his/her financial aid office to have financial need.
Peter D.C. THOMAS Scholarship Fund
Restricted to citizens of Canada. Students in the Schools of Law, Medicine, Divinity, and Business are excluded.
Francis J. THOMPSON Bequest
Restricted to residents of Hingham, Massachusetts.
Thomas E. UPHAM Class of 1868 Fund
Restricted to Harvard College graduates preparing for a career in public service.
Anna VAUGHN Foundation
Restricted to students pursuing studies in any biological science.
Helen E. VICKERY Scholarship Fund
Restricted to residents of Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
Jens Aubrey WESTENGARD Fund
Restricted to students of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences for travel or study in Europe, Britain, or South America.
Reverend Theodore H. WILSON Bequest
Restricted to students in the Divinity School and the Graduate School of Education.
1902 WORLD WAR MEMORIAL Scholarship
Restricted to descendants of members of the Class of 1902.
Jefferies WYMAN Scholarships
Restricted to graduate students studying anatomy.
