Below is a list of all Funds for International Students administered by CGS, sorted alphabetically by fund name. Corresponding eligibility and/or preference criteria are also included.

Please note that a number of the funds in this listing are Restricted Scholarship Funds. As noted below, students cannot apply directly for Restricted Scholarship Funds. Rather, their names must be forwarded to CGS by the appropriate Harvard Financial Aid Office. For information about how students can be nominated, please see the Restricted Scholarship Funds page.

AYALA Scholarship Fund (PHILIPPINES)

Eligibility for the Ayala Scholarship is limited, in order of preference,to: (1) citizens of the Philippines, (2) Asian nationals, (3) American students of Filipino descent and (4) students of Filipino or Asian history, languages, or other related subjects.

BALOKOVIC Scholarship Fund (CROATIA)

The Balokovic Scholarship is awarded each year to a citizen of Croatia who has been admitted for graduate study to Harvard University. Interested students must apply for consideration before entering the U.S. and prior to the start of their Harvard programs. Applications must be submitted to the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb, which nominates a limited number of finalists each year to the Committee on General Scholarships. BOAS Scholarship Fund (BELGIUM and LUXEMBOURG)

The Boas Scholarship is awarded each year to a citizen of Belgium or Luxembourg who has been admitted for graduate study at Harvard University. Interested students must apply for consideration before entering the U.S. and prior to the start of their Harvard programs. Applications must be submitted to the Commission for Educational Exchange in Brussels, which nominates a limited number of finalists each year to the Committee on General Scholarships. The Francis and Peggy CAHN Fund (Argentina)

The Francis and Peggy Cahn Fund for Argentina will support Argentinean students studying at the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in the Engineering, Applied, Physical and Life Sciences; the Harvard School of Public Health, the John F. Kennedy School of Government, or the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of merit and financial need. It is the donors’ wish that recipients have plans to return to Argentina and utilize their education to enable them to contribute to Argentina’s social, economic, and scientific progress, and priority consideration will be given to those candidates.

The fellowships are awarded for one academic year. Recipients may apply for renewal for a second year. Candidates must apply to and be accepted by their school of choice at the University independent of this Fellowship application. Admission to the University does not guarantee a Fellowship award.

Madame Marguerite CARRIERE Fellowship Fund (FRANCE)

This fellowship is awarded in alternate years to a Harvard graduate student with U.S. citizenship for study in France or to a French graduate student for study at Harvard University. It is hoped that the objective of the American student in France will be to study the French reaction to the problems concerning both countries and that a similar objective will guide the French student in America.

CHOATE Memorial Fellowship (UNITED KINGDOM)

The Choate Memorial Fellowship is awarded each year upon the nomination of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, England, to a British citizen coming from that university for graduate study or research at Harvard University for one academic year. Scholarships for COLOMBIAN Students

Scholarships for Colombian students support graduate students at Harvard University who are citizens of Colombia. Two funds make these scholarships possible, one for all Colombian students (Fondo Colombia-Harvard Fund) and one for students and faculty from Universidad de los Andes (Harvard-Los Andes Fund).

Candidates are evaluated on the basis of merit and financial need and must be deemed eligible for financial aid by the Harvard schools they plan to attend. Candidates must apply for consideration before entering the U.S. and prior to the start of their Harvard programs. Candidates must apply to and be accepted to an academic program at the university independently from this fellowship application. Admission to the University does not guarantee a fellowship award.

Recipients are expected to return to Colombia to contribute to the country following the completion of their degree studies.

FISHER Scholarship Fund (UNITED KINGDOM)

Fisher Scholarships are awarded each year to Harvard students with British citizenship who desire an education at Harvard but are in need of financial help.

Amalia Lacroze De FORTABAT Fellowship Fund (ARGENTINA)

De Fortabat Fellowships are awarded each year to students with Argentine citizenship who are currently enrolled or have been admitted for graduate study at Harvard University. Awards are need-based and take academic merit into account. Priority will be given to degree candidates in fields that will enable them to contribute to: (1) Argentina's social, economic and scientific progress; (2) the formation of public policies that strengthen Argentine democracy: and (3) Argentina's academic and professional development. Applicants must commit to return to Argentina upon completion of their programs at Harvard. Current and prospective Harvard graduate students should apply for consideration directly to the Committee on General Scholarships. Victor and William FUNG Fellowship (China and Hong Kong)

The Victor and William Fung Fellowships support students from China and Hong Kong who are pursuing Master degrees at the following schools or departments at Harvard University: Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School, Kennedy School of Government, Graduate School of Design, School of Public Health, Graduate School of Education, Regional Studies East Asia, or the Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Please note that students are not able to apply for this fellowship directly. Students must be nominated by the school in which they are enrolling.


Jean GAILLARD Memorial Fellowship Fund (FRANCE)

Jean Gaillard Fellowships are awarded each year to citizens ofFrance for graduate study at Harvard University or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Interested students must apply for consideration before entering the U.S. and prior to the start of their academic programs. Application is made to the Board of Directors of the Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufactures in Paris, who nominate finalists to the Committee on General Scholarships. Applications from interested students must reach the Ecole Centrale no later than November 15th for the following academic year. The Harvard Clubs of Germany provide scholarship funding to interested German students who wish to enroll in graduate programs at Harvard University. Please note that Harvard University is not involved with the administration of this fellowship and is posting this notice as information only. HELLENIC Harvard Foundation Scholarship Fund (GREECE)

Each year, the Hellenic Harvard Foundation in Athens awards scholarships to graduate students with Greek citizenship who have been accepted for admission to Harvard University. Interested students must apply for consideration before entering the U.S. and prior to the start of their Harvard programs. Recipients are required to return to Greece upon completion of their Harvard programs. However, an allowance for a period of practical training of up to one year in the U.S. is possible. The Holtzer Fellowship is awarded each year to a student of German birth and German education for study in any school of Harvard University. Frank KNOX Fellowship Fund (AUSTRALIA, CANADA, NEW ZEALAND and U.K.)

Frank Knox Fellowships are awarded to citizens of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom for graduate study or research at Harvard University. Interested students must apply for consideration before entering the U.S. and prior to the start of their Harvard programs. The fellowship, which is guaranteed for two years of continuous study at Harvard, pays tuition and health insurance and provides a stipend. Each year, Knox Fellowships are awarded to three students from Australia, three students from Canada, three students from New Zealand and four to six students from the U.K. For further information and to apply for consideration, prospective Harvard students should contact the appropriate office indicated below. Jorge Paulo LEMANN Fellowship (Brazil)

The Jorge Paulo Lemann Fellowships support graduate students who are citizens of Brazil and who will enroll at Harvard University's School of Public Health, Graduate School of Education, or Kennedy School of Government. The Fellowship also supports students at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, whose study and dissertation research focuses on Brazil, especially an aspect of Brazilian history, society, government, and/or economy. These students do not have to be Brazilian citizens to apply.

The fellowships are awarded for one academic year with the possibility of renewal for additional year. Candidates must apply to and be accepted by their school of choice at the University independent of this Fellowship application. Admission to the University does not guarantee a Fellowship award.

Lyman and Grew Scholarships are awarded each year to Harvard studentswith exceptional ability and unusual promise in future medical service.Scholarships are restricted to graduate students in Harvard's Schoolof Dental Medicine, Medical School, and the School of Public Health.These scholarships are intended to be awarded to students from thePeople's Republic of China who plan to return to China.

REAL COLEGIO COMPLUTENSE Scholarship Fund (SPAIN)

Real Colegio Complutense Scholarships are awarded each year to citizens of Spain who are admitted to or enrolled in any graduate degree program at Harvard University. Preference is given to students who have attended Universidad Complutense de Madrid (or one of its affiliated institutions).

The fellowships are awarded for one academic year, but recipients may apply for renewal for a subsequent year. Candidates must apply to and be accepted by Harvard University independently of this Fellowship application. Admission to the University does not guarantee a Fellowship award.

The application for this fellowship requires two steps. Interested students must apply for consideration through the Universidad Complutense de Madrid or Real Colegio Complutense in Cambridge. Complete instructions for completing that process are available on the Real Colegio Complutense website, www.realcolegiocomplutense.harvard.edu. All applicants are encouraged to make their interest known to the Director of the Real Colegio Complutense, Professor Angel Saenz-Badillos.

Interested students must also submit a copy of Financial Information Form to the Committee on General Scholarships. The 2008-2009 Financial Information Form is available in PDF format.

SALTONSTALL Scholarship Fund (PACIFIC ISLANDS/ASIA)

Saltonstall Scholarships are awarded each year to Harvard students who are natives/citizens of Hawaii, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, the East Indies, Taiwan, Sumatra, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong.

STILLMAN Scholarship Fund (SOUTHEAST ASIA)

Stillman Scholarships are awarded each year to Harvard undergraduate or graduate students for coursework, research, and/or fieldwork in an academic field related to Southeast Asian Studies, with preference to be given where possible to a student from Southeast Asia.

Peter D.C. THOMAS Scholarship Fund (CANADA)

Thomas Scholarships are awarded each year to Canadian students at Harvard University. Students in the Law, Medical, Divinity, and Business Schools are excluded from eligibility.

The Michael von Clemm Fellowship

This is an exchange program between Harvard University and the University of Oxford, and funded by the Michael and Louise von Clemm Foundation. Harvard College seniors who are interested in spending an academic year at the University of Oxford following their graduation may apply for a Michael von Clemm Fellowship. Prospective applicants should contact the Office of Career Services (OCS),www.ocs.fas.harvard.edu/, at Harvard University for more information and application materials.

Students from the University of Oxford may apply for the Michael von Clemm Fellowship to spend one academic year as a Special Student at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University following their graduation from Oxford. Undergraduates at the University of Oxford who are currently entering their final year and students who have completed their first degree in 2006 are eligible to apply.
