About CGS

CGS was created in the early 1900s as Harvard's only university-wide scholarship and fellowship programs office. A majority of our programs are funded with income from Harvard endowment funds established specifically for this purpose as a result of gifts to the university. Most of these scholarships and fellowships are not restricted to particular Harvard schools, but they are awarded only to those students who meet specific eligibility criteria established by the original donors.

CGS comprises representatives of each of the ten graduate and professional schools at Harvard University as well as Harvard College. CGS and its sub-committees meet regularly throughout the year to review applications and select scholarship and fellowship winners. The day-to-day business of CGS is overseen by its administrative staff. Dr. Margot N. Gill, Administrative Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, is Chairperson of CGS. Dina Moakley serves as Director of CGS, Rebecca Bauer as Assistant Director, Lisa Bruzzese as Coordinator, and Daniel Hegarty serves as Staff Assistant.
